Michelle has been in the newspaper industry for 29 years, starting out in advertising. She worked at the Chronicle and Echo in Northampton and the Hull Daily Mail before moving to The Sentinel in 1999 as classified director, and later advertisement director. After taking responsibility for Central Independent News and Media Group in Tamworth and a spell at the Derby Telegraph, Michelle was made managing director of The Sentinel and CIN. In 2013 she also became MD for Local World in the West Midlands, responsible for the Leek Post & Times, Staffordshire Newsletter, Nuneaton News and Black Country Bugle.
Louise joined the business as a reporter in October 1995 working initially for the Burton Mail and then later as Chief Reporter at the Uttoxeter Advertiser. Louise then moved on to junior sub editor at the Burton Mail, senior sub editor and features editor. Louise became editor of Staffordshire Life in October 2007, and now oversee Life, Staffordshire Bride and other niche publications.
Dawn joined the company in August 2004 and was formerly telephone canvass manager at the Express and Star with previous roles in private industry as Credit Control Manager. Dawn's current role within Staffordshire Newspapers is Newspaper Sales Manager. She is responsible for looking after The Staffordshire Newsletter, Black Country Bugle, Staffs Bride, Staffs Life and Bugle Annual series. Dawn enjoys the challenges that newspaper sales brings, enjoys creating relationships, outside events and promoting the titles. She has two beautiful daughters Leah, 12 and Laura, 18 , and is the proud owner of her faithful miniature schnauzer called Benji.
Rob studied business at North Staffordshire University before starting at The Sentinel in 1994 as a retail representative. After roles as home delivery manager and head of the distribution department, hew was promoted to newspaper sales manager of The Sentinel, which remains one of the biggest selling daily regional newspapers. In January 2012, the circulation department of the Tamworth Herald, part of Central Independent Newspapers, came under his responsibility. Now newspaper sales director, Rob also has circulation responsibility for the Staffordshire Newsletter, Leek Post & Times and Staffordshire Life.
After working for various newspaper groups for 8 years, Wendy joined the Sentinel in 2000, when she relocated from Cardiff. Wendy started as a telesales cold calling. Within a few months she was promoted to team leader and then moved to Field Sales Manager. Over the years Wendy has managed Retail, Leisure, Motors and classified. Last year Wendy was appointed Learning and Development manager for Stoke, Leek and Stafford. Recently, Wendy has been promoted to the position of Regional Training Manager for Local World West Midlands.
Michaela joined the company in November 1985 as part time telesales based in the old Hanley office – she then spent the next 29 years working on the different sections in the ad department with the main focus being on classified advertising. In 1993 Michaela took up the role of Training Manager where she was responsible for setting up a new training department across the business that included induction training, sales training and management training. Michaela held this position until 2008 when she took up the position of telephone sales manager for the classified team which she is currently responsible for. In January 2014 Michaela's team started to take responsibility for selling the classified section into the Stafford Newsletter and also the Leek Post & Times.
Ruth joined The Sentinel in 1996 on the Private Sales Team and then progressed to Trade Telesales, Trade Field Sales and then Team Leader. Ruth then moved to our Leek office and was appointed General Sales Manager. For the following 3 years Ruth worked for our sister paper, The Nottingham Post and was appointed as General Sales Manager. Ruth returned to The Sentinel as Classified Sales Manager for 2 years. She then worked for the Derby Telegraph managing a number of categories from the Telesales team, to Business and Property Field Sales. Ruth's current position is Outbound Field Sales Director at Stoke.
